So Good it's Criminal
Being commissioned by The New Yorker is the stuff of dreams for writers and illustrators alike. The recent crime issue, which was published in July, featured these ten brilliantly executed illustrations by Italian illustrator Simone Massoni. They all play on classic detective stories and the visuals of New York film noir.
Shadowy streets packed with suited gangsters along a city skyline make for distinctive and recognisable crime scenes; with subtle hints of various comedic twists such as a sherlock Holmes esque character using a smartphone.
